The paralysis tick
Ixodes holocyclus lives along the eastern seaboard in humid, shaded, leaf-littered vegetation. It attaches, feeds, and injects a neurotoxin. In dogs and cats the early signs are a change in bark or meow, weakness in the hind legs, vomiting and laboured breathing. It is a veterinary emergency.
Yard treatment
- Treatment of harbourage: leaf litter, shaded understorey, fence lines, bandicoot runs
- Advice on clearing and mulch depth to make the yard less hospitable
- Scheduled treatment through the peak spring and summer period
Yard treatment supplements your vet's product
It does not replace it. Keep your pets on their tick preventative and keep checking them by hand.
